FEAST workshops planned for the Rogue Valley
MEDFORD, Ore. — Local organizations are joining forces and taking action in order to better the food system in Jackson and Josephine County.
Farmers, producers, grocers, and consumers met to begin developing a Rogue Valley Community Food System Plan. The plan will include the processing, distribution, consumption, and waste of food in Jackson and Josephine Counties.
In order to develop that plan, “Feast” workshops will be held where participants will be able to discuss food, education and agriculture in their community and work toward solutions. The planning process also includes identifying gaps and opportunities in both counties.
Organizers say participation of communities in “Feast” have resulted in the creation of new farmers markets and expanded farm-to-school partnerships. The first “Feast” workshop is March 11th in the Applegate Valley at the Applegate River Ranch House from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the evening.
