Southern Oregon District FFA Leadership Skills Contest

Jacquelyn Brown of Crater

Jacquelyn Brown of Crater High School walked away with first place in the coveted Advanced Public Speaking contest at the Southern Oregon District FFA Leadership Skills contest in Klamath Falls on Thursday.  Brown was one of perhaps 100 contestants during the single day event at the Fairgrounds.  Teams from Lakeview to Phoenix competed in the District finals, in preparation for the regionals to be held later.

Haley Pennington of Lakeview was top choice of judges in the Co-op quiz.  Following Haley were April Knushen (sp?) of Hidden Valley, Makayla Scoggins of Phoenix and Mary Staub, also of Lakeview.

In the Job Interview category, Belle Tegner of Phoenix was the judges choice, followed by patricia Booth of Lakeview, Jacquelyn Brown of Crater and Madison Geirloff also of Crater.

Eagle Point and Jennifer Vargas of Phoenix.  Making the best showing in the Creed Speaking was Halie Walker of Crater, followed by Jessica Juvinall also of Crater.  In third and fourth were Mickenzie Neilson and Katelyn Helton both from Eagle Point.

There was an tight competition for top honors in the Extemporaneous Speaking.  Kawita Kaur of Phoenix won out over Sam Vagalde of Lakeview, Alex Yancy of Henly and William Noonan, also of Henly.

Sophomore Public Speaking found Fiona Nevin of Eagle Point on top with Gabby Redhead of Crater finishing second in the competition.  Ashley Reese of Lakeview and Jordan Stevens of Phoenix round out the top four.
