JaCo Farm Bureau Candidate night announced
Jackson County Farm Bureau President Ron Bjork, announced that the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Bureau will be April 17 at the Black Bear Restaurant in Medford. Bjork said it will be a candidate night for those seven candidates entering the race for the County Commissioner position #2 being vacated by C. W. Smith. Meeting time is 6 p. m. for those wishing to have dinner, and the meeting time is 7 p. m. Each candidate will be allotted a short period of time to express their views and there will be a short question and answer period following. President Bjork emphasized that there will be no off-color questions or remarks and no taunts by audience members towards candidates out of respect for them and for other audience members. So far, there are seven candidates seeking the office held by Smith. Among them are republicans: Kay Harrison, of Central Point, Doug Breidenthal of Medford, Joel Ockunzzi of White City and Colleen Roberts of Prospect. Democratic candidtes include: John Beatty of Central Point, Jeff Scroggin of Talent and Mark Edward Soderstrom of Phoenix. All seven candidates have indicated they will be in attendance at the meeting Bjork said that all Farm Bureau, Stockmen’s Association members and members of the agricultural community are cordially invited to attend the meeting. The Black Bear Restaurant is located on Barnett St. in the south of Medford, near the south Medford interchange.
