A great speaker at the Oregon Farm Bureau Conference in Pendleton, Oregon. Matt Rush was the speaker at a wonderful dinner provided by the farm bureau, worth the very long trip to Pendleton.
Workshops today: covered the efforts by the Oregon Department of Agriculture to promote Oregon farm products in the Pacific Rim and the complex nature of promoting international trade. Oregon farm products are very popular in many countries.
We also had a good presentation from the Farm Credit Service about markets, crops, and the financial services provided by their organization.
The last panel of the day covered estate planning for farms and ranches. A complex subject that is constantly changing with the state and federal tax code. Most farms and ranches aren’t prepared.
Tomorrow starts the House of Delegates and debate over the coming year’s policies for the Oregon Farm Bureau. Delegates from all Oregon counties will be present on the house floor representing farm bureau members across Oregon.
